911, Can I help you?

Spence had summoned three officers to our door by 8:05 this morning. Apparently he called 911 when he took off with the bedroom phone while Matthew and I lay watching "Sid the Science Kid". It was lovely to greet three of Sandy's finest in my purple PJ's with last night's make up. To top it off, just seconds before the doorbell rang, Spencer was in the process of falling down the stairs and I yelled loudly because I was so scared he would hit his head on the wood floor at the bottom. All the while, the three officers were lining up on the doorstep ready to press the doorbell. Luckily Spence got stopped just as the doorbell rang. So on top of it all, I'm probably on the Division of Child & Family Services watch list. Matthew wouldn't stop talking their ears off and I felt like an idiot. I tried to cover our tracks by apologizing and telling them that the monkey child would no longer have telephone access and by giving Matthew a lesson on why not to call 911 unless there was a true emergency. Gosh lady, can't you control those kids?

That is sooo funny! Teachers at my school used to call 911 on accident too. Our long distance access number started with a 113... Normally you had to dial 9 to get an outside line. BUT with the access code you weren't supposed to...just put in the code and then dial the number. So when teachers forgot they dialed "9" and then started the code "1.113..." You can see that it would end up being 911 without them even knowing it. :)

Yikes. That would be kind of embarassing, I am sure. We haven't called 911 yet, and I sure hope we never do.

We have had that happen (cops at door and everything) 3 times!!! Don't feel badly. The cops will just start to expect it from you. "Send an officer over to the Sly residence AGAIN... you know that Lady who never watches her kid?" I know they talk that way about me too.
