You Might be a Redneck If. . .

Gravedigger, The Patriot, Blue Thunder, Escalade, Tropical Thunder, Ninja Turtle. Despite his proper upbringing it seems my eldest has an affinity for monster trucks. As such, I did my motherly duty and took him to the monster truck rally as it rolled into town. These were the big guns. The ones who have actually earned their right to have a Hot Wheels car crafted in their image. I know because Matthew spent his hard earned money at Walmart to have one of his very own.

Being that I have never frequented a monster anything, I was a little unsure what to expect but had some mind visuals of what to find. Thankfully I must say that we caught the afternoon show which seemed have a little more of a family flair than anticipated. That being said I was more than a little nervous about the lyrics coming from the heavy metal band that greeted us upon arrival. We got past the Guns N Roses wannbes and found our way to our shaded seats (sometimes the cheap seats pay off) which would be home for the next two hours as we witnessed feats from the Redneck world.

The initial roar of the opening ceremony prompted us to locate ear plugs which we wore continuously. A dust mask would have been helpful as I witnessed America at it's finest.

Due to the shifting of afternoon sun, we had to relocate seats a few times and the biggest bummer came when I completely missed Gravedigger's championship performance in the freestyle competition because I was busy cleaning the dust off our new seats with a baby wipe. I'm fairly confident that I was the only one concerned with the cleanliness of my pants and that obession cost me the whole reason for coming. Maybe I can catch him the next time he rolls through town. If nothing else, I made my four year old happy and in the end, that's all that really counts.

Long live Gravedigger.

Back in the Saddle Again

Caroline will be four weeks on Thursday. I can't believe it. My little baby is growing too fast. She is getting pudgy cheeks like me. I would love to show you a photo but I can't. Still having camera issues. First the camera was broken, then the resolution was too high and I've been waiting for Corbin to shrink them to post, then the computer went wacky and we can't access or even find the photos on the computer. I'm sure the in-house computer guru will fix it--I just don't know when. I've been holding off posting but alas the show must go on with or without photos. Just imagine the most adorable little girl ever and that's what we have.

So life with three is pretty good. She's been an easy adjustment thanks to her mellow, accommodating personality. The boys love her to death and smother her with affection. Sometimes I fear that the affection is bordering danger, especially from Spence, but I am glad to see how they have taken to her. She does not lack from brotherly attention. Spencer often calls around the house when he can't find her "Babeeeee, babeeee." Matthew would like to marry her. He was upset when I told him that he may not want to marry her. After finding him in tears, he said that when he grew up he wouldn't see Caroline any more. I assured him he could and that they would always be brother and sister. He announced that he would tell the "marryer guy" that she wasn't his sister so he could marry her.

Matthew is very doting and I love listening to him talk to Caroline. He cuddled up next to her the other night and said he was glad she was in our family. He often comments on how cute her little dress or socks or feet are. He is infatuated with her really. It's almost like he knew she was coming for some time. When Spencer was about a week old, Matthew asked when the girl was coming. He was insistant even before the ultrasound that we had a girl. Maybe these little people have spiritual glimpses we don't know or recognize. Sure enough he was right even when we weren't so sure.

I'm enjoying time off work and even getting caught up on a few odd projects that have been pushed aside for some time. Today the basement bedroom was cleaned and organized--a task I thought I'd never see. In addition, we cleaned the garage so the Camry now has a home inside. Most of the garage still houses quiet books but with the holidays coming the inventory will soon be shrinking, thankfully.

Our family and friends continue to lend much support and kindness. My mom is a trooper with bringing meals and her and my dad cleaned my house last week. What great parents they are. I couldn't ask for any better. Corbin's parents have also been wonderful with helping to tend the boys and have even taken Caroline a day or two so that I can spend time with the boys. Matthew and I had a date to the dinosaur museum at Thanksgiving Point last week and today Spencer and I went to the Thanksgiving Point farm. It's fun to have them one-on-one. Our friends and neighbors have been so generous and kind in bringing food and gifts for Caroline and the boys.

Sleep is precious so I better run. I promise photos will be forthcoming. They may be Caroline's prom photos but we WILL eventually get something up.
