Where's the Snickers, son?

I am a failure as a mother.

Somewhere between teaching eating skills, potty basics, and not stealing, I totally left out "Take the Snickers FIRST when trick or treating!"

I was forlorn when I dug into Matthew's stash at midnight only to see a huge and glaring void in the chocolate department. I was overcome with emotion as my lack of parental teachings became obvious in that single moment. I must repent and do better.

Matthew came home with approximately 20 pieces of assorted candies and chocolates and he thought he had a dump truck full. He chose 9 houses to go to in the neighborhood (because that's about all we last) and got a few at each one. He thought he had hit the jackpot but my thought was "man, that's not much candy to split 3 ways!" I should have taken the ones offered to Spencer. Perhaps Matthew is wiser than I think and was just saving his pathetic mother from herself.

Oh, the lessons we learn as we live our lives! On the bright side, there is always next year. Right?

I'm sorry! I'd share the left over Snickers from our Halloween bag, but alas, I have eaten them. :(

Do you need me to make a run to the store for you?

I hear ya on the chocolate. I thought I was being clever when I didn't buy any chocolate to give out to the trick or treaters -- instead I bought the bag of candy that has suckers, dots and tootsie rolls -- thinking that they aren't my favorites so I wouldn't eat them. Ha! In my desperation for something I sweet I dug into the bag before Halloween. Big mistake....I wolfed down these "2nd rate candy items" when I should have had full on good chocolate. I guess there's always Christmas. There's a See's in Draper that I've been meaning to visit.

It's like you are some sort of newbe at this. Seriously, from the time that Savannah was 5 months old, we never miss trick-or-treating. I held her in one arm and her bag in the other. I always selected my choco-faves and said, "My baby really loves Milky Ways, thank you." I will really miss Halloween when all my kids wise up and control their own candy. For now it is... one for you and three for me. One for you and three for me. But I am sorry for your loss of what was never actually yours. Go to the store and buy a bag on sale!
