Halloween Candy Hell

Good grief, it's that time of year already. The office mates are busting out the Halloween candy and beckoning to all to come partake. I had 3 mini-Snickers but have to call it quits. My stretchy pants are already screaming at me. Whoever invented Halloween anyway? It's a cruel holiday for those with no willpower. I actually thought about giving away pencils this year or some other useful item kids seem to like but I'm afraid that we could have a child-sized riot on our hands if there isn't candy involved. Plus, I don't want Matthew to have the stigma of being the son of "Party-PooperPencil Lady."

That is the exact reason I don't buy candy until 1-2 days before Halloween. If not, I eat it all myself.

When I was at school I'd stay away from the classroom parties because everyone would give me something as I walked out.

P.S. If you go for the pencil thing--let me know and I'll bring Jacob by for trick-or-treating. :)

My neighbors were very creative last year for "trick or treats"...we picked up stickers, bubbles in a pumpkin bottle, CapriSun juice and fruit snacks. Of course, Connor, at age 10 months, could have cared less.

Maybe this year we'll take our blanket along and have a picnic in front of one of the houses???

We gave out in our new neighborhood bags of microwave popcorn that we bought at Costco with a coupon so it was a bargain. The kids seemed to like them. I had my first candy corn of the season at book group. It seems like non-stop sugar from now until New Years! Happy Holidays!
